Arsenal linked with Guti Arsenal are being linked with a move for Real Madrid utility man Guti. Reports have suggested that Gunners chief Arsene Wenger met Real president Florentino Perez to talk about his own situation, but Guti could well have been the topic of conversation. The forward has had to make do with a bit-part role at Santiago Bernabeu, and he said during February that a move to Arsenal interested him. Guti has continually rejected offers from elsewhere to stay loyal to Real, but with Ronaldo and Raul well ahead of him in the pecking order the 26-year-old may well consider his options in the summer. Wenger is a fan of Guti, and his versatility would certainly boost Arsenal`s options, but a stumbling block could be the fee Real are likely to demand. The French tactician has been told he will have around £10 million to spend, and a move for Guti would make a sizeable dent in that kitty. Guti could be viewed as the ideal replacement for ageing Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp, and Wenger may well have already sounded out Perez about a deal. Wenger, meanwhile, has insisted he does not want to be drawn into commenting on all the speculation linking him with Real Madrid. The Gunners chief said: "It is simple, I am committed to Arsenal and will not get involved in any of this speculation." |
